About The Soap

Most store-bought soaps are packed with cheap fillers, synthetic detergents, and harsh chemicals that can strip your skin dry and leave it feeling tight or irritated. Hench soap is the opposite of that.

We make our bars by hand, in small batches, using only natural, skin-loving ingredients - no palm oil, no sulphates, no parabens, and definitely no crap. Each bar is loaded with nourishing butters like shea and cocoa, plus oils like olive and coconut that actually help your skin feel better, not worse.

Unlike some natural soaps that leave you feeling greasy, Hench rinses clean - no residue, no weird film. And our scents? They’re masculine and clean, but not overpowering. That means you won’t be walking around smelling like an air freshener - and if you wear cologne, our soap won’t compete with it.

They're also designed specifically for men - real blokes who want something that works hard, smells good, and doesn't mess around. So if you're over the supermarket stuff that smells like a chemical lab and leaves your skin feeling like sandpaper, it might be time to switch to Hench.

While we don’t make any medical claims, we can tell you that a lot of our customers with sensitive skin, dryness, or irritation have said that Hench soap has made a real difference for them.

Because our bars are made with natural, gentle ingredients and without harsh chemicals they tend to be a lot kinder on the skin than your average soap. Plus, the extra boost of nourishing butters and oils helps keep things smooth and hydrated.

Every skin type is different, though, so we always recommend patch testing if you’re unsure. But if you’re after something that’s simple, clean, and crafted with care, Hench might be just what your skin’s been looking for.

Everyone’s skin is different, so we always recommend checking the full ingredient list before use, especially if you have known allergies or sensitivities.

While our soaps aren’t specifically formulated to be hypoallergenic, we leave out a lot of the common nasties that tend to cause issues. Instead, we use natural oils, butters, and clays that are generally well-tolerated.

Plenty of our customers with allergies or reactive skin have told us they’ve had great results with Hench, but it’s always best to patch test first and see how your skin goes with it.

There are a lot of natural soaps out there - but not all of them go the extra mile like Hench.

We don’t cut corners with cheap ingredients. Instead, we use premium plant-based oils and butters, with every bar packed full of shea butter for its moisturising power and to help the bar stay hard and last longer. That means a creamy lather, better skin feel, and a longer-lasting bar.

Our colours come from natural ingredients, and our exfoliants are the real deal - think ground coffee, oatmeal and Australian red clay, natural grit that actually works without being rough on your skin. Each bar is cured for a minimum of 6 weeks, which gives it that solid, long-lasting finish that won’t turn to mush after a few uses. And all of our packaging is 100% plastic-free, because we believe good soap shouldn’t cost the earth - literally.

In short, Hench is built tough, made right, and made for men who want something better.

Hench soaps are free from the harsh, synthetic chemicals found in most commercial soaps. That means no palm oil, no SLS, no SLES, no parabens, no synthetic detergents, artificial preservatives, or cheap foaming agents.

We only use natural ingredients - like premium plant oils, rich butters, mineral clays, and real exfoliants - the kind that are better for your skin and the environment. No fillers. No nonsense. Just proper soap, made the way it should be.

All Hench soaps are cruelty-free - we never test on animals, and we never will. Most of our bars are also vegan friendly, made with 100% plant-based ingredients.

The only exception is our honey oat bar, which contains real honey for its natural soothing properties. If you're avoiding all animal-derived ingredients, just check the product description - we’ll always be upfront about what goes in.

At Hench, we use a carefully balanced blend of high-quality oils and butters - including shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, rice bran oil, and castor oil. These ingredients are chosen for their ability to cleanse, moisturise, and give a solid lather without drying out your skin.

We spend a lot of time testing and refining each recipe to get the perfect ratio - so every bar hits the sweet spot of hardness, hydration, and performance. No mushy soap, no tight skin - just a bar that works hard and lasts.

All of our ingredients are locally sourced here in Australia, which is why we’re proudly certified with the Australian Made licence. We believe in supporting local producers and keeping things close to home.

For colour and texture, we use natural clays, botanical powders, and real exfoliants like ground coffee and dried coconut. And every bar is lightly scented with premium fragrance oils that smell clean and masculine - never overpowering. No fillers. No shortcuts. Just honest ingredients, crafted right.

All real soap is made using lye - it’s an essential part of the soap-making process. But here’s the thing: there’s no lye left in the final bar.

During a process called saponification, the lye reacts with oils and butters to create soap and glycerin. Once that reaction is complete, the lye is completely transformed - it’s gone. What you're left with is a solid bar of true soap, rich in natural glycerin, and packed with moisturising goodness. So yes, lye is used to make the soap - but there's absolutely none left in the finished product. Just clean, skin-loving ingredients doing their job.

Using The Soap

Natural soap likes a bit of breathing room. To get the most out of your bar, keep it dry between uses - a well-draining soap dish or a soap saver will do the trick. Don’t let it sit in a puddle or under a steady stream of water.

Using a loofah or soap saver bag can also help your bar go further. You’ll get more lather with less soap, and it stops the bar from melting away in your hands too quickly.

The good news? Hench bars are cured for at least 6 weeks, so they’re already tougher and longer-lasting than most. Look after it, and it’ll return the favour.

Natural soap can “sweat” in humid weather - that’s just the natural glycerin doing its thing. Glycerin is a skin-loving ingredient that draws moisture from the air, so those little droplets on your soap are totally normal and harmless.

If your bar’s going a bit soft, it’s usually from sitting in water too long. Use a soap dish with drainage, and it’ll stay firm and last longer.

Our soaps are designed for the body first and foremost, so they’re not specifically formulated for the face or hair. That said, plenty of customers do use them on their face with no issues - just be mindful that some of our exfoliating bars might be a bit too rough for more delicate areas.

Everyone’s skin is different, so we recommend patch testing first to see how your face handles it. As for hair - the scalp has a different pH to your skin, so while our bars might work for some, they’re not designed as a proper shampoo bar. The good news? We’re working on dedicated face and hair soaps - stay tuned!

Yep - our formula holds up well even in hard water. Thanks to the balance of premium oils and a proper cure time, Hench bars still give a good lather and rinse clean, without that slimy feel some natural soaps can get.

It’s solid soap that does the job, wherever you are.
